Judi and I had some great success again with fund raising in USA. We returned with £1300. Since then things have picked up pace in UK. Thirty four people took part in the Rutland Water 20 mile walk and raised over £3000. Thanks to a great two page spread in the Leicester Mercury supplement & then the announcement that I had been selected to carry the Olympic Torch in the relay in Leicester, interest & fund raising has gathered pace here in the UK.
I am getting more & more bookings for talks at which I sell mamalade. Local supermarkets are now kindly dating the ingredients to make the marmalade.
What’s next? Evington Village Fete where we have a stall to sell donated goods. Two charity dinners have been organised. In October Dave Cooper, Judi and I will all run the Cologne marathon to raise sponsorship.
A big Thank You to Ruth & John Hales who celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary and invited guests to make donations to our charity instead of gifts. This raised £450, much of which was gift aided. A claim has just been made for 2011/12 Gift Aid of £1400.
School progress is exciting. The ground floor is complete but for interior decorations. The bore well, toilets and cess pit are under construction and we have enough funds to pay for this work.
The next step is to construct the front wall and gate. Thereafter we can start on the first floor construction which should be much cheaper than the ground floor as we simply have to build on to the re-inforced concrete roof to the ground floor. No foundations needed. Thus we are seeing the end of the tunnel. So exciting.
Thanks to all who are helping in any way. neville
